First Tomato

Here it is.  The first tomato of the season.

It's a roma tomato.

He's going to sit here on the kitchen counter for a few days to ripen some more.  Then, we're going to eat him!

  1. One of the "ta da" moments of gardening is that first tomato! -- We've already had ours!

  2. Oh how excitingn to have the fist roma tomato come off! I love them, lucky you! I have never tried growing tomatoes, might try some time!

    Have a great day!

  3. There's nothing better than a vine ripe tomato, for sure! My hubby brought in one lonely cherry tomato yesterday. I told him I would half it with him. He let me have "whole" thing.
I popped in my mouth. "Squish" good!
    Have a great weekend!

  4. We picked our first tomato last week and I am glad we did. Heavy rains brought a lot of snails and they ate through the next 5 tomatoes that were just about ready to be picked. The snails got to my green peppers too.

    I'll bet it was good.

You should give one a try. Tomatoes are so rewarding.

    What a generous husband! :-)

I'm hearing about a lot of snail damage this year. That's no good!

  6. Unfortunately my tomatoes are still as green as grass, in fact greener than grass cos that's almost brown at the moment.

  7. Looks good! I think I planted my tomato plants too close together and it is hard to reach them. Oh, well.....plant and learn.
