A Quick Survey Question

I have a small survey question in the right hand column.  I'm planning to leave it open through Friday.

I try to use labels with my posts to make it easy to find other posts about the same subject.  I use them a lot to search the blog myself to check on when plants bloomed the year before, etc.  I am curious if you use them too.

I appreciate labels on the blogs I follow especially if I'm reading a blog for the first time and they're discussing a plant I'm particularly interested in.  I use the labels to get more background.

Hope all is well in your garden.  My garden has a lot of trash because we've had so much wind lately.  It seems plastic shopping bags, candy bar wrappers, styrofoam cups, and miscellaneous receipts find their way to the garden no matter which way the wind is blowing.  I need a nice days just to do trash pickup soon.  I check on my winter sown seeds often as this warmer winter is drying out the containers frequently.  I'm also seeing a lot of bulbs sprouting.

Happy gardening!

  2. Hi Sherlock,
I do find labels helpful, and have voted so...good idea with the poll! As for rubbish blowing into the garden, well, we live on a housing estate and so I know exactly what you mean and fully appreciate the pain you feel.

    1. I picked everything up this afternoon only to hear the weather forecast for tomorrow...more wind. Maybe rain though!

  3. How funny-I love the "what are labels?" selection! I think they're so nice to look up info---however, a lot of times I FORGET to label my own posts. Sigh!

  4. I didn't know how to answer the poll as my answer is sometimes, not yes or no.:)

    1. I think sometimes would be 'yes.' Maybe I should have phrased more clear. If you've never used them, no; if you've used them, yes. It doesn't matter how often. Thanks for visiting.

  5. I would like to use labels, but haven't figured out how to yet.

    Enjoy your awakening gardens.

  6. I, too, very much appreciate labels for searching a new blog or finding a post I'd read and want to revisit. There is another benefit to labels, though. Search engines use them to guide new readers to your blog. More hits, more new garden friends! (Speaking of blog technicalities, where did the name/url option go on the sign-out list?)

    1. Tricia and Bill,
When blogger started using the strange wavy words for their word verification, I took that requirement off and stopped allowing anonymous comments so I wouldn't get all the spam, but I may turn that back on and just deal with the spam through comment moderation. I guess the name/url went with the anonymous. Sigh. Seems like there are a few who mess up the fun for everyone else. Thanks for visiting!!!!

    2. I only use moderation and haven't had any spam that I know of. Don't remember having the option. I did get huge masses of hits from the Ukraine about a year ago, but no spam came with it so I didn't do anything about it and it eventually stopped.

Name/URL is back! Must have been a hiccup. I don't use the Google ID because I've got an inactive blog there, not much other info and I also like people be able to just click once if they want to visit the blog.

  7. I will go and put a "yes", but I rarely use the labels on others' blogs. I use them on mine to go find my last post on whatever meme I'm participating in so I can find the link to the hostess' blog, or to make comparisons on when things are blooming.

I hate those new word verifications.

    1. You're not the only one not happy with the new word verification.

  8. We have lots of wind here but not much trash - just rubbish can covers etc. Our neighbors are acres away so that may explain the clean wind!

  9. I use the labels on my own posts. .but rarely have time to use the labels on other peoples posts. Unfortunately. .I am down to only reading a few blogs and no new ones :-( I found some more seedlings in my winter sown pots. .and a few of the milk jugs were manhandled by the wind. .so not sure there will be much hope there. .though the soil was contained inside the jug. .not sure how much the seeds within got rearranged!!

  10. Sometime I use labels but it may not be easy for some to pick up what I am talking about such as The Rainbow Flower is my Iris. I enjoy you blog you are very good with words. We have had no winter all my spring flowers are blooming. Have a lot of winter grass.
