This year's first harvest from the vegetable garden is the Speckled Trout lettuce.
I am very happy with how well the seeds sprouted and grew.
I harvested enough for my wonderful husband and I to enjoy salads with our supper Friday night.
We both agreed it is a keeper.

A salad with home-grown lettuce sounds absolutely delicious! Hope you both have a fun weekend.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that first harvest great!
ReplyDeleteWas it as tasty as it is pretty?? Looks great!
ReplyDeleteYes!
DeleteI'm slightly envious of your first harvest, but I'm sure it made an absolutely delicious salad and the two of you enjoyed it very much.
ReplyDeleteI remember when you introduced this plant. Still can't get over the name. Hope you guys enjoyed the first batch:) Looks beautiful. You have a gift for making veggies grow:)
ReplyDeleteNice to have something out of the garden this early in the season. Looks good.

It looks great!
ReplyDeleteThat looks wonderful: I've only really been harvesting indoor lettuces so far: I intend to be much more organised next year!
ReplyDeleteOh yum! Love it when we grow our own food. Congrats on the first harvest.
ReplyDeleteLooks good! We have not any lettuce since spring. Summer too hot from them. Just had seedlings popping out.
ReplyDeleteMy husband of many years (he is gone now) grew a light green lettuce. It was always the first veggie we picked. I would fry bacon and pour the grease over and wilt it and eat it with corn bread. This is a southern meal, I know it was not good for us, it sure tasted good. I broke the bacon in little pieces and put them in also.
ReplyDeleteI start my thinning when the lettuce is a little smaller than that, and enjoy what I pull out in salad. I wish mine would get as big as yours, though. It seems to be slow growing this year. One of these years, I want to build a cold frame or hoop house.
