Last year, I started acquiring plants that are red in someway for a flower bed. My "red bed."
I purchased Gaillardia grandiflora 'Burgundy' or Burgundy Blanket Flower from High Country Gardens. It just sat there last year. This year, it is blooming!!!!!

I like that color! Far far nicer than the orange/yellow mix ones I had.
ReplyDeleteHope you had an enjoyable weekend. It was finally HOT here---my plants must have grown 6".
Very pretty REDS.... I love the idea of a red bed or a yellow bed or pink bed, etc.... Our flowers are all different colors --kinda a hodgepodge.... ha

Someone told me that perennials --
ReplyDelete1st year - sleep
2nd year - creep
3rd year - leap
So never expect much until the third year and I think by the 4th year, they need dividing so you start with "sleepers" all over again!!! LOL!
That is a very pretty one also. I like the Gaillardia very much.

That's a wonderful color.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week ~ FlowerLady
Love the rich color! Hope you have a good week.
ReplyDeleteI love that one. I had it for about 3 years, but it didn't come back this year. I think it got smothered by the neighboring rue.
ReplyDeleteOOOOH. .love that!! Next year it will be self seeding too! And I bet it has a long bloom time, so you can enjoy it!!
ReplyDeleteSometimes we just have to be patient with the plants we buy. They'll bloom on their schedule, not ours.
ReplyDeleteI like that Burgundy flower! What a great idea - to create a red bed....
ReplyDeleteI think that perennial is tempermental
