This is Karl Rusenfield or Karl Red. It takes a bit for a peony plant to get going. I remember no blooms the first year. Then, one bloom. Then, three blooms. Etc. Look at it now!

That's lovely. Mine are full of buds this year. Just waiting for them to open up. The rain we got should help.

I'm learning that, too (that it takes awhile for a peony to get going)...
ReplyDeleteThis year, for the first time in several years, I think we're going to have at least 5 flowers! I'm very excited and trying to figure out how to hold them up (as I recall, they can get droopy with the weight of the flower).
Some things are worth waiting for!
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting anxiously to see what my peony plant will do this year. Last year I thought it was going to die, but I have a lot of green leafy stuff this year.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely was worth the wait. Such a pretty color and big blooms!
ReplyDeletePerennials get better with age , like red wine :) What a lovely Peony.

ReplyDeleteI am turning greener than the green on those peony leaves. I miss my peony's. I got one a year for Mothers day. Have you seen Tasha Tudors? OF course she is queen in my book.

I have a red peony that looks so much like this. Mine is a hand me down from a property my grandmother bought in Murray, Iowa back in 1964. When mine blooms I will share the photo to show the similarity. I have many places where I have planted mine, even out at the cemetery.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and yes, I agree, worth the wAIT!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWell worth the wait, wasn't it?
:)
That is a beauty! I think it holds its flowers higher than mine do.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful. They are my favorite flower and I love that we have some of both my grandmothers. Hope you have a great rest of the week.

This plant looks wonderful in that spot. I especially like the color of the flowers.
ReplyDeleteMy peony's are puny this year, sigh. I think they are becoming too shaded by the nearby dogwoods. Maybe, time to move them to a sunny spot. Your peony look beautiful and so full of blooms!
ReplyDeleteLove your water container and daisy....
Very pretty like the bright colours!
