Cheyenne Sky

A few years ago, I ordered some prairie switch grass called Cheyenne Sky.  I planted it in the back shrub border where it was shaded too much and never looked good.

Last year, I moved it to this bed.  After getting established, it seems to have settled in and really filled out this summer.  Now, it is getting the burgundy tips and making seed heads.  It looks good from all angles.

On a personal note, my mom had heart surgery last week.  The doctor had been monitoring her for a few years and it became obvious that blood was not flowing as it was needed.  She got a new aortic valve and two bypasses last Wednesday.  She is recovering well.  A lot of my gardening time has been spent at the hospital.  It is nice that she is in our city where I can bop over to see her often.

Be well and enjoy each day.

  9. May your dear Mom continue to recover smoothly and quickly from her surgery.

Your grass is lovely. I'm starting to see different grasses that I find interesting.

I have two huge shell covered concrete pots filled with Pink Muhly grass and they are just starting to bloom. This was always one of our favorite grasses to see in the fall in open fields around here. The fields for the most part have disappeared, but not the love of that wonderful grass and now I have some growing here.

Have a lovely autumn ~ FlowerLady

  12. Looks beautiful! A very interesting ornamental grass. I don't grow them here (hubby says they look too much like weeds) but I think yours look lovely, especially in the fall.

  13. Thank you all for the well wishes for my mom. She had a big day with therapy and walking the hallway. Yet, she was chatty and happy when we visited her this evening. So amazing what can be done now.

  16. I had some family life issues that reduced my garden time this year as well. I pray that your mother recovers very quickly with no medical side affects from the surgery. It's great that your mother doesn't live too far away and that you can help with the recovery. Mother's are pretty special and we want them to be around for a long time, don't we.

Have the best fall day that you can.
