What a beautiful day I had in the garden. I got the horehound that came in the mail planted, I planted more vegetable seeds, I filled the water gardens and I enjoyed a day with no wind.
Look at the irises and dame's rockets blooming in the alley in the photo. A lot of purple going on right now. Hope you had a beautiful spring day too.

Some plants I ordered arrived Monday afternoon. Silver Edged Horehound. I think they will have to live in the box on the patio for a few days. It's too muddy to plant (wow, don't hear that said much here) and it is raining again today. So, instead of another rain photo, here are the plants in a box.

The rain stopped early Monday morning. After the final check of the rain gauge, we received 5.20" at Garden on Sherlock Street! My garden hasn't been so well watered in a long, long time. A little sun today. Some showers in the forecast through the week. So thankful for the rain.

Another photo of rain! Since Saturday morning, we've received over 4 inches at Garden on Sherlock Street. Amazing. Some places in our county are actually under a flood warning for low lying areas. We're not used to having this much water. More rain is in the forecast. While there have been some downpours, most has been a slower soaking rain. Just what we need.

This is happening right now! Rain! We have a chance of rain all weekend.
This will really help our garden and our town and our county and our state....
Thankful for the rain.

We had a beautiful spring day today. My indoor plans were scraped after work and I tackled garden projects instead. A composting hole was dug, large containers were filled with soil, I rinsed out the large water container we recently acquired requiring flipping it a few times to drain out the rinse water, put up the teepee trellises (in photo) and replaced a soaker hose that had gotten bad. We have rain in the forecast for Friday and the weekend. I sure hope so. Time to sit and look at the tulips.
Have a good night!

Today, carrot seeds were put in the ground. I did not fill this cold frame as I plan to add some seeds every few weeks so that we can then have carrots mature every few weeks. I just planted about half of the left side. My wonderful husband loves carrots. I'm trying to master the art of carrot cultivation. This is where I do cultivate the soil well. I dig really deep trying to make sure the soil is loose for those carrots to grow.
We are suppose to have a freeze tonight. I don't have anything tender placed outside yet. Our springs are just too up and down to get ahead of our last frost date average.
We had a slim to none chance of rain this morning. It ended up being none.
Have a good week!

Hello friends! I end this week with this row of tulips that just multiply each year. I have tulips in other areas, but this planting has such a concentration of blooms I stop and stare.
The garden is growing. Each day I see more plants waking up. I have more seeds in the vegetable beds, pansies in a container on the front porch and the rain barrels set up. Rain is scarce right now. Wind is abundant. That's a scary combination. Wildfires in the Sunflower State have made national headlines. We pray for rain everyday. We have our normal watering conservation in effect still so I am running my soaker hoses to help the garden survive. I also continue to use the water I collect in the bathtub. Every bit helps.
We could still get a freeze so I am refraining from putting out anything cold sensitive, but I have plans!!!!
Take care and have a good weekend.
